Evening Prayer

In the name of God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord, open our lips.
And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

The Song of Mary

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour;*
for he has looked with favour on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:*
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him*
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,*
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,*
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,*
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel,*
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
The promise he made to our fathers,*
to Abraham and his children for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and will be for ever. Amen.

Psalm 134

Luke 1:46-55 - Magnificat

Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord
who minister by night in the house of the Lord.
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary
and praise the Lord.
May the Lord bless you from Zion,
he who is the Maker of heaven and earth.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.

Cathy's Prayer

Lord Jesus, we come before you now as a nation and ask you for your forgiveness for all the terrible wrong that has been done in this land, the apartheid, the killing of farmers, the social injustice, the abuse of people weaker than us and many more sins

Forgive each one of us for the prejudice and hatred we show instead of love and acceptance. Help us to turn our eyes on your example, Lord, and learn to love each other as you do. Help us to walk with you in forgiveness and humility.

Show us how to turn away from selfishness and pride. Forgive us for angering You Lord (Isaiah 26; 20.)

2 Chronicles 7; 14 promises that if we humble (repentance) ourselves You will heal our land, and so we appeal to you now to heal the sick, comfort those that mourn, keep us safe.

Let the scales fall from our eyes so that we can see Your son Jesus Christ who died and rose so we can have life. A life to live as you meant it to be with hope and joy and love. A life of grace.

Thank you glorious Lord for everything that you are.

Come Lord Jesus Christ, come.

365 Songs of Fellowship

Almighty God, Father of all mercies,
we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks
for all your goodness and loving-kindness
to us and to all whom you have made.
We bless you for our creation, preservation,
and all the blessings of this life;
but above all for your immeasurable love
in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies,
that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise,
not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up ourselves to your service,
and by walking before you
in holiness and righteousness all our days;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit,
be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.

A Collect for Peace

O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Evening Collect

Lighten our darkness, Lord
and by your great mercy defend us in all perils and dangers of the night;
for the love of your only Son our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Blessing and honour and thanksgiving and praise
more than we can utter, more than we can understand
be to you, O holy and glorious Trinity
Father, Son and Holy Spirit
from all angels
all people
all creatures
for ever and ever
God of all power, we acclaim you
Lord of all grace, we worship you
we are not worthy of you
yet your goodness makes us praise you and give you thanks
We praise you for the life you have given us
and for all the blessings we have received at your hands
Above all, we give you thanks for your Son Jesus Christ
for the grace and hope which his death and resurrection have brought to us
We ask this of you, our Father
that we may never forget your goodness to us
and that we may show our thankfulness not only in words
but by the service of our lives,
both now and in all eternity. Amen.

Preserve us, Lord, while waking
and guard us while sleeping
that awake we may watch with Christ
and asleep we may rest in peace. Amen.

Arch Blessing

Lord God, in this season of fear and uncertainty,
as we face the threat of the coronavirus,
Grant us the wisdom and determination to walk in one another's shoes,
The confidence and the humility to draw closer to you and to those affected,
Empower us to pastor those who are ill, to weep for the dead, to support the healers and to care for and love one another.
And the blessing of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be with us all, now and always.
Amen

The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all for ever. Amen
